Terms of Service

The short version

Bank of Dad is a family ledger for pretend money. It is not a bank, it never holds real money, and it does not connect to any bank account. A parent owns the account, kids use it under that account, and Premium is an optional paid upgrade. By using Bank of Dad you agree to these terms.

What Bank of Dad is

Bank of Dad is a tool for teaching kids about saving, spending and investing. The balances in it are pretend money that you and your kids agree to treat as real. Bank of Dad is not a bank, a lender or a brokerage. We hold no real money, we do not move real money, and we do not connect to bank accounts. Simulated investing uses practice money only, and nothing in the app is financial, tax or investment advice.

Bank of Dad is operated by Vieregge Solutions (sole proprietorship), referred to below as "we" and "us".

Who can have an account

An adult parent or guardian creates the account and is the account holder. Kids never sign up themselves. They use Bank of Dad only under a parent's account, and the parent is responsible for everything that happens in it, including what the kids do. You must be old enough to form a binding agreement where you live, and you must give us accurate information when you sign up. Keep your password and your family's PINs private.

Acceptable use

Please use Bank of Dad only for its intended purpose. Do not:

• break the law or use the service to harm anyone
• try to break in, overload or interfere with the service
• use another family's account or access data that is not yours
• scrape the service, or resell or copy it
• upload anything unlawful, abusive or unsafe for children

Premium

Bank of Dad is free to use. Premium is an optional paid upgrade. It costs $2.99 per month or $24.99 per year. Payments are processed by Stripe, and we never see or store your card number.

• Each family can try Premium free once for 14 days. Starting the trial needs a card. The first charge happens when the 14 days end. Cancel before then and you are not charged.
• Families who had an account before Premium launched are founding families. They get Premium at no charge, with no card, for as long as their account exists and we offer Premium.
• After any free trial, Premium automatically renews at the end of each billing period until you cancel.
• You can cancel anytime. Premium access continues to the end of the period you have already paid for, and you will not be charged again.
• If you want a refund, ask us within 14 days of your first charge and we will refund it. After those 14 days there are no partial refunds for the rest of a billing period.
• We may change Premium prices for future billing periods. We will tell you before a new price applies to you.

Deleting your account

You can delete your family's account. Deleting starts a 30-day window in which you can sign back in to restore it, and after that your data is permanently deleted. Any Premium subscription is cancelled when you delete. The details are in our Privacy Policy.

Termination

You can stop using Bank of Dad at any time. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms or puts the service or other families at risk, and we will tell you why when we reasonably can. If we end a paid account without cause, we will refund the unused part of the period you paid for.

Limitation of liability

Bank of Dad is provided "as is", without promises that it will always be available or error-free. Because it holds no real money, we are not responsible for any real-world money decisions made using it. To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim about the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing here limits rights that the law does not allow us to limit.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas.

Changes

We may update these terms. If a change is material we will update the date above and tell you, and for Premium subscribers we will give notice before it applies. Using Bank of Dad after a change means you accept it.
