Bank of Dad

Privacy Policy

What Bank of Dad stores, why, and how to get rid of it.

Last updated: July 25, 2026

The short version

Bank of Dad is a ledger. It records balances you type in. It does not connect to any bank, does not move money, and does not ask for financial account details. We do not sell personal information.

Information we collect

From you, the parent, when you create an account:

  • Your name and email address
  • A password, stored only as a salted hash — we cannot read it

Information you enter about your children:

  • First name or nickname, and date of birth (used to display age)
  • Account balances, interest rates, and transaction notes you write

Children do not create accounts and do not interact with the service directly. All information about a child is entered by their parent or guardian, and you choose how much to provide — a nickname works as well as a real name.

Collected automatically:

  • Standard analytics via Google Analytics — pages visited, approximate region, device and browser type. This is aggregate traffic data, not tied to your child's records.
  • Server logs including IP address, kept for security and debugging.

How we use it

To run the service: authenticating you, storing your family's balances, applying the interest rates you configure, and sending account-related email such as password resets. We do not send marketing email unless you ask for it.

Advertising

Pages on this site may display third-party advertising. Ad providers may use cookies or similar technologies to measure and serve ads. Advertising is shown only on public pages such as guides and calculators — never inside your family's account area, and never targeted using anything you have entered about your children.

You can opt out of personalised advertising from Google at Google Ads Settings.

Who we share it with

Nobody, other than the infrastructure providers needed to run the site (hosting and analytics). We do not sell or rent personal information. We will disclose information only if legally required to do so.

How long we keep it

For as long as your account exists. Delete your account and the associated records — including your children's accounts and transaction history — are removed from our production database.

Your choices

  • You can view and edit everything in your account at any time.
  • You can delete individual child accounts or your whole account.
  • You can request a copy of your data, or its deletion, by emailing us.
  • Blocking cookies in your browser will stop analytics; the app itself uses browser storage to keep you signed in and needs that to work.

Children's privacy

This service is directed at parents and guardians, not at children. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 13 to create an account or provide information to us directly. Information about a child appears only because a parent entered it, and that parent can delete it at any time.

Security

Traffic is served over HTTPS and passwords are stored hashed. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a unique password. Because the app holds no real money and no financial account details, the consequences of a compromise are limited by design.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date above and note the change on the site.
